Please try our new WordPress installer here: https://installers.34sp.com/wordpress-install/script-install.php
The below guides are for those wishing to maunally install WordPress:
In this guide we are going to install WordPress onto your professional account.
If you wish to use WordPress with the default template and have no wish to use the plug-in or uploader
features, please skip to step 2.
Step 1)
So, you want to use plug-ins and the uploader features. If not, please skip to step 2 as the following is not necessary.
This allows us to upload files and install new plug-ins and themes (Otherwise we might get errors regarding file ownership).
You will need your welcome email as FTP details will be required as well as the name of the server your account is on.
Go to
https://account.34sp.com
Enter your email address and account password, then click on continue.
Type in the name of your site or click on 'Sites'. Click on your hosting account and then click on 'One Click Installers'. Choose phpcgi from here.
If you get an error please copy and paste it and send it to support@34sp.com so we can check this out for you.
Step 2)
You now need to create a database for WordPress to use.
Please see the following tutorial on how to add a new database:
http://support.34sp.com/KB/a194/how-to-create-a-database-on-a-professional-hosting-account.aspx
Step 3)
Go to our WordPress installer here:
https://scripts.34sp.com/wordpress-install/index.php
As before, enter your FTP username and password and the name of your site.
Now, you need to decide where you want to install WordPress. If you want WordPress to be your main site put
/ (forward slash) in the directory box.
If you want to put WordPress into a folder called '/blog' simply put /blog in the directory box.
Next, enter the database name that you created in step 2 along with the username and password you also set for this database.
The database table prefix can be left with the default value unless you have special requirements.
The admin email and password are the email address you want to be contacted on by your word press install and a password you want to login to the admin area with.
For this tutorial I will assume you have never installed WordPress before so leave the 'Is this an Upgrade' option un ticked.
Click 'Install'
When finished you will be presented with a link yo your admin area. Login there and we advise you click on the auto upgrade option before proceeding with any changes.
Once it has auto upgraded you may feel free to experiment with your new WordPress blog.
Your default login username will be admin and the password you provided to the installer.
Should you receive any errors with the above please email support@34sp.com with the error and we will try and resolve this for you.Article ID: 305, Created On: 3/30/2010, Modified: 9/14/2011
